About the project

Following the successful Uganda 2024 project, we once again handed over unconditional cash transfers to people living in extreme poverty in this follow-up project. We also revisited all participants from the previous year. Four of them received additional support of 250,000 Ugandan shillings each.

From Kampala, we rode two motorbikes for about five hours into the rural areas around Kamuli. There is hardly any infrastructure, work or hospitals there. Households often have 6 to 8 members living on an average of just €1.30 a day.

The project team consisted of Matthias Kayanga, Lukas Neuwirth and Girens Canda. Matthias Kayanga conducted the interviews in the local language, Lusoga. One month later, we visited each family again to document their progress.
